SecureW2 Integration

Cloudpath and SecureW2 share a common vision of enhancing the functionality and usability of 802.1X by augmenting the operating system's capabilities. Cloudpath is proud to partner with SecureW2 to deliver an integrated solution which delivers a great user experience.

SecureW2 is focused at the EAP method layer, providing EAP method plug-ins that add new capabilities to the built-in Windows 802.1X supplicant. Known worldwide for its popular TTLS implementation for Windows, SecureW2 now offers a growing list of EAP method plug-ins for a range of Windows operating systems. When SecureW2 is installed on a machine, the Windows supplicant is able to perform authentication using EAP types traditionally available only in third-party supplicants.

Cloudpath is focused at a higher layer, providing management capabilities and an improved user experience to the built-in network manager, which includes the wireless manager and the 802.1X supplicant. These capabilities are provided across a range of operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, and iPhone. When XpressConnect is deployed in the network, users are effortlessly configured and attached to the secure network.

Why SecureW2?   Network administrator's adopt SecureW2 because they have a need to use an EAP method not built into Windows. For example, the TTLS EAP method is typically required for environments using an LDAP user database. Windows does not include a TTLS implementation, so SecureW2 is needed. Additional information about SecureW2 can be found at http://www.securew2.com.

Why XpressConnect?   XpressConnect extends the configuration capabilities of SecureW2 dramatically, providing a self-service mechanism for resolving most network connectivity issues. In a SecureW2 environment, XpressConnect provides the following benefits:
  • Improves the user experience for associating and authenticating to the network.
  • Adds automated, self-service support beyond Windows, including Mac OS X, Ubuntu, and iPhone.
  • Extends the configuration capabilities beyond the initial installation of SecureW2, allowing the configuration to modified at any time.
  • Adds additional capabilities for automated configuration, including hotfixes, firewalls, Windows Update, proxies, and DHCP.
